This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a rapidly expanding team contributing to a university-wide shift in how we use data to inform strategic decision-making.

We are looking for a Data Analyst to support the implementation of our Institutional Data Strategy. You will play a key role in developing the necessary foundations to provide a data and analytics capability that enables users to make quicker, more autonomous, and better-informed decisions. You will support the implementation of a new reporting framework encompassing modern technical reporting solutions, clear data models and definitions, and reporting standards within the Power BI environment. Working closely with IT Services, Professional Services, and academic stakeholders, you will ensure that our data infrastructure and tools meet the evolving needs of the institution.

This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical and data visualisation skills, with experience of Power BI, and a passion for using data to drive impact. You will need to be a highly skilled, delivery-focussed, and technically competent hands-on Power BI developer with the confidence to engage and influence colleagues at all levels.

Person Specification

  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications) or relevant technical qualification and considerable relevant experience. Where no equivalent qualification is held, significant practical relevant experience and expertise in a series of more demanding roles will be required demonstrating the conceptual understanding required.
  • In depth up to date specialist understanding and experience in a relevant scientific, technical or IT specialism.
  • Microsoft Power BI certified or extensive report writing experience using business intelligence/ visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau and SAP BOBJ, with relevant hands-on experience.
  • Experience of creating data-rich dashboards, writing DAX expressions, Power Query and implementing row-level security in Power BI.
  • Experience in extracting and transforming datasets for reporting and/or analysis using tools such as SQL, R, Alteryx, Snowflake etc.
