Soft FM Services are responsible for cleaning and portering services to the university’s academic, administrative and residential estate. Soft FM facilitates all university key events, such as graduation and open days and ensures areas are prepared for other events such as receptions and summer conferences.
Duties of the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and motivate Soft FM operational staff to provide a quality customer focused service to the academic and residential estate, ensuring that Soft FM Services are delivered and maintained to the highest standards. This will be mainly in our accommodation buildings but there may be some elements of cover elsewhere.
You will be required to accurately complete departmental statutory paperwork and implement all relevant health and safety legislation.

Skills and qualifications required
It is essential that the person fulfilling this role has grade C GCSE Maths and English, or can provide a suitable equivalent/alternative. The successful applicant will have experience managing teams, working in a customer focussed environment and will have a good knowledge of Health and Safety practices.
You will be organised, have a good knowledge of resource management, good communication skills (particularly with students and your own line manager) and will also be IT literate. In addition, you will have a good attitude to quality and the completion of work and will have the ability to motivate and assist your reporting staff.
It would be desirable (but not compulsory) if applicants had previous similar cleaning experience and had additional qualifications such as customer service, ECDL, Management, IOSH etc.
Appointment to this post will be on a permanent, full-time basis (38 hours per week) to be worked as required within the operational window of 5:30 am - 8 pm, 5 days in 7. The current working pattern is 8 am – 16:45 pm (Monday – Thursday) and 8 am – 16:00 pm (Friday).
