Are you an experienced Research Assistant who enjoys working on a wide portfolio of Research projects?  Would you like to work on a portfolio of complex national trial evaluations that address the needs of marginalised populations?  If this sounds of interest, then we would welcome your application. 

In this role, you will work across several projects including- a randomised controlled trial of Trauma Informed Practice for young people referred to Children’s services, a randomised controlled trial of multisystemic therapy for child abuse and neglect and a randomised controlled trial of multidimensional family therapy for adolescents who use alcohol and drugs. These studies are part of a portfolio of complex national trial evaluations addressing the needs of marginalised populations.

You will act as trial coordinator and take overall, day-to-day management for the conduct of one of the trials and contribute to the management of the others. The role will involve liaising with members of the wider research team, the treatment providers, and the funder and you will be responsible for coordinating research materials, collecting data, maintaining trial databases, interpretation, and dissemination of the results.

As a Research Assistant you can expect to be involved in:

  • Carrying out high quality independent research and contributing fully to the Centre’s research strategy and future research assessment exercises.
  • Working collegiality with collaborators within the University of Kent and across different Universities, treatment providers and funders, helping to ensure high standards in research.
  • Promoting the Centre’s scholarly activities by disseminating research findings widely through publication writing, supporting other staff and students to write and contribute to publications, teaching and presenting at relevant conferences.

What will you bring to the role?

  • A PhD, or near to completion of a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject
  • Experience of working with marginalised young people and their carers
  • Evidence of ability to write research reports, journal articles, and other written outputs (e.g. blogs)
