About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Digital Development Librarian to join us in the newly combined Library, Culture and Heritage Division. This role will take a lead on the optimisation and implementation of our digital systems and support Senior Managers developing innovative solutions within the Division.
The role will involve user-centred decision making and building strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders.
About you
You are looking for a new challenge in varied role that offers an opportunity to enhance the services our Division offers to students, researchers and the local community.
You have experience working in a digital development setting, with demonstrable organisational and planning skills, well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to manipulate data to identify effective solutions and make informed recommendations.
We’re looking for someone with a track record of working with digital systems in a user-centred way. You are someone who not only embraces innovation but is keen to lead it, and to translate your insights into meaningful improvements for others.
You’ll also bring proven experience in evaluating and enhancing system performance. Experience in a Higher Education environment is a bonus, but not essential—we value fresh perspectives just as much as sector knowledge.
About our Division
The Library, Culture & Heritage Division was established in 2024, consisting of the main Library, the Keep archive service (in partnership with East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council) and the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts interdisciplinary arts hub. The Division is currently planning its future strategy, making it an exciting time to join us.
Founded in 1961, the University Library is an important research facility with exceptional services and internationally significant collections. Today the Library is far more than a building and a collection of printed material. It plays a central role in the creation, publication, application and preservation of knowledge and research at our thriving University.
As a crucial partner in the University’s learning and research agendas, the Library constantly seeks ways to be as closely connected as possible to the changing nature of the work of Schools to contribute fully to the enrichment of the lives of their students and the advancement of their research, as well as playing a key role in civic engagement.
