The post is based on the Guy’s Campus embedded in the breast cancer molecular genetics group led by Professor Elinor Sawyer.
About PharosAI
PharosAI is led by a team of researchers and clinicians from King’s, Queen Mary University of London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and Barts Health NHS Trust and promises to transform cancer care by unlocking decades of NHS cancer and imaging data and integrating it with genomic and digital pathology data generated by the King’s Health Partners and Barts cancer biobanks.
PharosAI will accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation AI models for cancer diagnosis and drug discovery, leading to faster and better-informed healthcare for UK cancer patients. PharosAI will revolutionise AI-powered cancer care, driving breakthrough therapies, clinical applications, addressing cancer’s social determinants, catalysing innovation and positioning the UK as a global leader in this dynamic ecosystem.
About The Role
Overview of the role
The Clinical Data Analyst is part of the breast cancer clinical database team which is led by Professor Elinor Sawyer. There are two other Clinicial Data Analysts in the breast cancer clinical database team, working closely with the wider breast cancer multidisciplinary clinical team. The Clinical Data Analysts are responsible for entering data for new breast cancer patients during the clinical multidisciplinary meetings and cleaning and curating historical data, drawing together different datasets to analyse disease patterns and outcomes. The breast cancer clinical database comprises approximately 18,000 patients diagnosed with breast cancer dating as far back as the 1970s and provides data for academic, commercial and service improvement studies and works closely with breast cancer KHP biobank.
This post is being developed to improve integration between the clinical database and the KHP Cancer Biobank database (led by Dr Cheryl Gillett) as part of PharosAI to link biobank samples to the patients’ up-to-date detailed clinical data. The Data Analyst will need to work with both the Biobank and Clinical Databases to enhance and develop functionality of the databases to reflect changes in clinical service and sample collection. They will interact with central, clinical and research IT teams and other cancer-related data analysts to provide a reliable and reactive database service to the Cancer Biobank and PharosAI.
