About the role
Within our School of Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy, we are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Criminology to support our wide range of programmes. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across our BSc Criminology and BSc Criminology with Forensic Psychology courses, and will contribute to the development and delivery of modules within our wider undergraduate and postgraduate sociology programmes.
In this teaching-focused role, you will prepare and deliver a range of learning activities, supervise student projects, assess coursework, and provide constructive feedback to support student development. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to review and refresh the curriculum, ensure alignment with the latest research and sector developments, and enhance the student experience through innovative teaching practices, including the use of digital technologies. You will also undertake teaching-related administration, support student welfare, and engage in scholarship that informs your practice and contributes to the continuous improvement of our educational provision.
About you
You will hold a PhD in Criminology or a related discipline (or possess equivalent professional experience) and bring a strong grounding in core themes of criminology and forensic psychology. You will have previous experience of teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate students, demonstrating an ability to support high-quality student learning and provide effective feedback. Your excellent communication and presentation skills will enable you to deliver engaging and accessible learning experiences both in-person and online.
A flexible team player, you will be committed to innovation in teaching and to supporting students to reach their full potential. Experience in developing and delivering modules related to criminology and forensic psychology would be advantageous, as would a relevant teaching qualification, or a commitment to achieving Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
