Are you ready to lead change at the intersection of research and public policy in one of the world’s most dynamic cities? The University of London, the UK’s largest provider of international distance and online education and a global convenor of academic excellence, is offering an exciting opportunity for a passionate researcher or policy professional as part of the London Research and Policy Partnership (LRaPP).
We are seeking an exceptional individual to take on a transformative role as a Policy Fellow, leading the development of London-based Areas of Research Interest (ARIs). This pioneering project is your chance to make a lasting impact by bridging the gap between academic research and real-world policymaking in the capital.
About the University of London and LRaPP
Rooted in London with a global reach, the University of London is a federation of 17 prestigious member institutions and home to over 250,000 learners and 50,000 staff. We believe in the power of education to change lives and societies. Our School of Advanced Study stands as a national beacon for the humanities, while our commitment to collaboration drives innovation across disciplines and borders.
The London Research and Policy Partnership (LRaPP) - a joint initiative between the University of London and the Greater London Authority - was founded to strengthen connections between academia and policymakers. Since 2021, LRaPP has cultivated relationships, shared expertise, and produced evidence-based solutions to tackle London’s most urgent urban challenges.
About the Role
As a Policy Fellow, you will be at the heart of a transformative initiative. You will develop and implement a methodology to create a strategic ARI framework tailored to London’s unique policy landscape. You’ll consult with stakeholders across government, academia, and civil society to identify research priorities, gather critical insights, and produce actionable outcomes that will inform public policy across the capital.
This role addresses a key gap: London currently lacks a coordinated system for capturing policymakers’ research needs. With other regions across the UK developing their own ARI frameworks, this is a timely and vital opportunity to establish London as a leader in research-informed governance.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a strategic thinker, relationship-builder, and problem-solver - someone who thrives on collaboration and has a deep understanding of both policy processes and academic research. You might be a researcher, knowledge broker, or policy professional with experience navigating complex institutional landscapes and turning insights into impact.
Applicants should be affiliated with a London university - ideally a University of London federation member - or a policy institution. The Fellowship is offered on a part-time basis for an initial term of 12 months, with flexible working arrangements available.
Make a Real-World Impact
This is your opportunity to contribute to the future of London - aligning research excellence with the needs of our city, driving meaningful change, and opening new avenues for collaboration between policymakers and scholars.
To be considered for this opportunity, please submit your application and CV (by clicking ‘Apply’) before the closing date at midnight on Sunday 8th June 2025.
The University reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the published end date should it receive sufficient applications to warrant earlier shortlisting.
