Institute Introduction

The Institute of Modern Biology of Nanjing University focuses on original basic research in the forefront of biomedicine, encourages and supports pioneering and systematic scientific exploration, and is committed to becoming a world-class biomedical research and innovation center with a number of internationally recognized academic authorities and a "scholar-type research environment". The Institute of Modern Biology implements the dean responsibility system and the tenure-track/tenured professor system, has relatively independent personnel and financial autonomy, and implements the professor recruitment, academic evaluation and promotion model and graduate training system in line with the world's top universities. There are currently two tenured professors, Professor Lin Anning and Professor Shuai Ke, who have served as tenured full professors at the University of Chicago and the University of California, Los Angeles, respectively. There are also two associate professors and 13 assistant professors, all of whom have complete and outstanding overseas postdoctoral training experience and have achieved world-class innovative research results. The Institute has established partnerships with Gulou Hospital, Jiangbei Core Business District, etc., and has hired internationally renowned scholars to form a scientific advisory committee to provide strategic consultation and advice for the development of the Institute of Modern Biology, which has a great international influence.

Recruitment Position Setting

The Institute of Modern Biology of Nanjing University plans to recruit Assistant Professor. 

The recruitment research directions include:

  1. Computer simulation and biological artificial intelligence
  2. Infection, immunity, and metabolic mechanisms
  3. Molecular mechanisms of major diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases
  4. Gene Editing
  5. Innovative drug development and precision medicine

Application Requirements

  1. Commitment to academic teaching and research, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. High standards of professional conduct, including adherence to teaching and research ethics; no history of criminal convictions or academic misconduct.
  3. Strong academic background: Ph.D. in a closely related field. Candidates should have experience studying and working in leading research institutions, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
    1. For tenure-track Assistant Professor roles, ideally, at least two years of postdoctoral research experience.
    2. For tenure-track Associate Professor roles, ideally, at least four years of postdoctoral research experience.
  4. Proven teaching ability, including the capacity to deliver core and advanced courses effectively. Candidates should be familiar with modern teaching methodologies and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated research excellence and potential for continued academic development: a solid record of innovative research with international visibility and a clear and ambitious research agenda.

  1. Three letters of recommendation (generally from doctoral supervisors, academic leaders of current work units, and well-known scholars in the field);
  2. Detailed resume (in Chinese and English);
  3. Three representative works (generally papers or monographs that have been officially published or published online before the recruitment announcement deadline and have DOI numbers, and the full text must be uploaded);
  4. Other relevant attachments proving academic achievements.

Salary and related packages

  1. Public institution establishment (except for foreign personnel);

  5. The school provides short-term turnover housing and housing subsidies, and the candidates can purchase commercial housing provided by the school at a preferential price;
