Lecturer in Agricultural and Extension Education

Qualifications and Experience 

The successful candidate must possess a PhD from a recognized university in Agricultural and Extension Education, Agricultural Extension or a closely related field. 

Candidates should also possess:

• Ideally at least three (3) years' teaching experience at a recognized tertiary institution/university in courses related to Agricultural Extension or Communication Methodologies
• A good record of research with publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals
• Proven expertise in planning and delivery of extension training programmes 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

• Master’s or other postgraduate training at the tertiary level in Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Education, Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, Rural Development Policy or related field
• Prior training in Communication and Extension Programme Development
• Prior training in Online Teaching
• Experience in teaching courses at the postgraduate level
• Experience in successful supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students
• Experience with public and private sector organizations in agriculture, nutrition, entrepreneurship and farm business
• Experience and prior success in extension in the food sector
• Proficiency in the analyzing of extension data at the national or regional level using qualitative and quantitative analytical tools 

The following would be considered assets:

• Certificate in university teaching and learning
• Evidence of training in at least one (1) of the following areas
• Nutrition Extension
• Agribusiness Extension
• Agribusiness Management
• Entrepreneurship
• Training in ICTs in Extension
• Good track record of developing research programmes and history of attracting research funding
• Experience in applying research findings to satisfy industry needs
• Experience in teaching courses in at least one (1) of the following areas:
  • Agribusiness Management
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Nutrition Education
  • Experience in revision of existing curriculum or development of new curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation in the area of expertise
