Dr Emily Adams runs a newly established research group focusing on development and evaluation of diagnostics for pandemic preparedness at the Pandemic Sciences Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and capable Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work within a team that are developing reagents and point-of-care tests for pandemic disease including MPOX and Henipavirus.
You will be responsible for designing and carrying out experiments to develop and/or evaluate diagnostic tests towards pandemic disease, and for managing your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will support grant writing with the team and work towards independent submissions, and ensure all documentation associated with laboratory H&S is kept up to date.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion), in virology, diagnostics and/or infectious disease, and have demonstrable experience in research settings within university laboratories, public health laboratories and/or industry laboratories. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes, and be able to manage your own academic research and associated activities.
