The University of Liverpool IT Services department is seeking to recruit an experienced Unix / Linux Systems Engineer to join our existing Unix team. Duties will include the support and maintenance of various core business and infrastructure services based on Unix / Linux platforms in a large-scale academic environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of rapidly changing systems and technologies within a Russell Group University. The Unix team works closely with other areas within IT Services and also provides support or advice to numerous research groups operating Linux desktop or server systems throughout the University. We are seeking a service delivery-oriented individual with a passion for what they do and the ability to work closely as part of a collaborative team. You will be educated to Degree level or have relevant professional experience of Linux system administration. Physical and virtual server configuration and management experience is essential, in addition to excellent communication skills. Programming experience would be a significant advantage for the role. This post is a full-time permanent position.
