About the Role
This job focuses on promoting and supporting consultancy work at QMUL. You will work closely with academic colleagues to create consultancy from their networks, and to understand their capabilities and expertise to match with opportunities. You will work closely with internal colleagues to develop and manage consultancy opportunities, ensuring they comply with QMUL policy, are commercially viable and profitable, benefit both academics and QMUL, and are smoothly set up with confirmed contracts and budgets. This role is client facing (internal and external) and will be expected to be on campus three days per week to work with academic and professional service colleagues.
About You
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with academic colleagues and external clients. You will need to be able to build strong cross-functional working relationships with colleagues in different teams. You will understand the importance and value of the academic community undertaking commercial work through consultancy, be curious to support academics in specialised areas, and have strong commercial acumen to develop fee offers and budgets. You will have excellent organisational skills to manage a portfolio of opportunities at different stages, working in a planned way to meet deadlines and be proactive in driving opportunities and resolve issues such as contract terms.
About the Department
The role is based in the Business Development team as part of QMUL’s Research Services Directorate. The team develops research and commercial based knowledge projects with external organisations from business, industry, government, and voluntary sectors.
Our role is to support our academics and clinicians, and those who work with them across our sites, helping them to conduct world-class research.

Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities.
