This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to take a pivotal role in the coordination, management, and successful delivery of high-quality Postgraduate Research administration within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

About the role:

The Senior Programme Officer, Postgraduate Research is a key member of the Education Support Team (EST), providing high quality administrative support for postgraduate research (PGR) programmes (MPhil/PhD and MD(Res)) in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). This role supports all key stakeholders throughout the student lifecycle from the admissions process through to graduation and beyond.

The postholder will be part of a small team (currently three), where strong communication and collaboration is vital for daily operations. In addition to working as a member of a busy team the role holder is also expected to deputise the Senior Programme Manager - PGR as and when necessary and represent the faculty externally in wider activities such as College Committees and to engage with other College functions.  The postholder is expected to resolve complex day-to-day issues, responding in line with College regulations, policies and timelines, and work with minimal supervision on a day-to-day basis.

King’s College London operates under a hybrid working policy and when on campus the post holder will be based at the Denmark Hill campus (currently 2 days a week). 

This is a full-time post, and the successful candidate will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
  2. Familiarity with Higher education administration
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence autonomously to a broad range of audiences
  4. Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure to complete a range of competing priorities to tight deadlines, and requesting and utilising support as and when required
  5. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook and ability to utilise appropriate information in data driven decision making as required
  6. Experience of stakeholder management, ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner
  7. Experience of working in a customer-facinenvironment with a knowledge of how to address complaints and service setbacks in a professional and efficient manner
  8. Excellent organisational and record keeping skills with methodical but flexible approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracy

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience of student admissions in a Higher Education environment
  2. Event organisation experience
