The International Relations team leads on the university-wide internationalisation activity at LJMU. The team identifies and develops international collaborative and strategic partnerships, represents the university overseas, provides guidance to and attracts international students to study at the university, delivers student mobility (inbound and outbound), and facilitates the University’s international summer school.
LJMU is passionate about developing its international presence through partnership with like-minded institutions across the world. We welcome international students who choose to study an LJMU programme either in Liverpool or with one of our overseas partner institutions. We aim to provide an enriching international experience to our students through international opportunities embedded in the curriculum, opportunities for semester and year-long study overseas, short term international study, volunteering and work experience placements.
International Relations is also leading on the implementation of the International Plan 2023-2030, which reframes the university’s international ambitions to align with its priorities in delivering university Strategy 2030.
We are now looking for a permanent Regional Manager for the South Asia / North Africa region. Based in the International Relations Directorate, reporting to the Head of International Recruitment within the portfolio of External Engagement and Partnerships, the Regional Manager is responsible for taking the lead on delivering international recruitment objectives for a portfolio of country markets in line with the University’s wider international strategy.
The primary countries of responsibility will be confirmed upon appointment but will be within the South Asia or the North Africa region. Market responsibilities can change from time to time in line with university priorities. The responsibilities include building effective relationships with external stakeholders to develop market activity and achieve specific international objectives; offering expertise and providing market intelligence which supports the development of international activity within the university; identifying and where appropriate capitalising on opportunities for the university to take forward its international strategy; and representing the University overseas.
You will have significant experience of working effectively within international student recruitment focusing on South Asia within a UK University setting; demonstrable experience of formulating and implementing international recruitment plans; demonstrable and significant understanding of national and international educational developments and their impact on HE and the international student recruitment environment; significant experience and knowledge in overseas education systems and qualifications; numerate with prior experience of gathering and interpreting data and using statistical analysis to inform decision making; experience of managing budgets; experience of working in a target setting environment and a track record of meeting targets.
You will be required to spend considerable time overseas each year. A flexible approach towards working patterns is required which will include working weekends and evenings as necessary as well as prolonged period overseas.
