The University of Reading is a thriving organisation with new and exciting initiatives, which makes the International Tax Accountant a unique and varied role.

The role sits within the tax team and reports to the Group Tax Manager. However, there will be lot of opportunities to liaise with many areas of the University, as well as interacting with the University’s professional tax advisers.

The role is responsible for being a key contact regarding the University international tax matters. This includes: international compliance, considering tax implications of new territories, working closely with HR in the development and improvement of global mobility processes and assisting with queries relating to staff global mobility queries.

In addition, the role will ensure that the University’s strategic plans and proposals are reviewed and fully considered from a tax perspective.

You will have :

  • Current expert knowledge of overseas tax and social security requirements, including experience with immigration/visa requirements
  • Significant international tax experience within a complex business/practice
  • The following qualification requirements:
  • A recognised professional tax qualification with general understanding of accounting, OR
  • An accounting qualification with practical international tax experience within a complex business OR
  • In the absence of a tax/accounting qualification, significant experience with international taxes in a complex business/practice.
  • Self-motivation, with ability to prioritise, and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach, with ability to work within a team and adapt to change.
  • Excellent communication skills
