The Opportunity

The School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University is seeking a dynamic and innovative Lecturer of Media to join our growing team. This position will teach into the Media Studies Major in the Bachelor of Arts and/or the Master of Communication and Media Studies, with a focus on digital media content and related sub-themes.

We have an exciting opportunity for the appointee to work alongside our internationally renowned researchers in contemporary media debates and issues. Current staff research projects funded by the Australian Research Council include:

• Automated data technologies
• The cultural and economic contribution of community music radio to the Australian creative economy
• Chinese social media platforms and governance
• Investigating artificial intelligence risks for the Australian workforce

Additionally there will be an exciting opportunity for the appointee to work with the Constructive Institute Asia Pacific Hub and the Monash Climate Change Communications Research Hub on relevant research projects relating to media consumption and production.

About You

Your expertise in digital media will enhance our research and teaching programs, particularly in areas such as health communication, environmental media, and media policy. You will be a research leader with a strong track record in attaining research grants and contributing to global debates on contemporary media, and a committed lecturer with a demonstrated capacity to deliver innovative teaching and contribute to curriculum reform.

Ideally, you will bring a digital media perspective to one or more of the following research areas: health and wellbeing communication, environment and the media, and/or media policy.
