Post Summary:

The School of Nursing & Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Midwifery. The primary purpose of this appointment is to contribute to midwifery education, research and administrative activities in the School. This appointment arises in response to the continued growth and development of the Midwifery profession within the School, and reflects a strategic commitment to expanding capacity, enhancing expertise, and building on Trinity College Dublin’s leadership in Midwifery education and research.

Context:

We recognise the unique identity of the Midwifery profession and are committed to excellence in Midwifery practice, education, and research. The Midwifery team, in collaboration with colleagues across nursing and allied disciplines, actively contributes to advancing original and sustainable research in childbirth, reproductive health, and maternity care. This team places a strong emphasis on co-designed research with women and families, in partnership with clinical collaborators in our affiliated maternity hospitals, as well as national and international research networks and industry partners.

We are now seeking a motivated and talented Assistant Professor in Midwifery to join our growing team. The appointee will have a developing track record in Midwifery education and research and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, interdisciplinary education initiatives, and student supervision and research. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic advancement of Midwifery and maternal health, in alignment with the strategic Goals of the School, the University and the Midwifery profession.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate subject expertise, attract research funding and attain scholarly publication. They will be expected to complement and enhance the existing strengths of the Midwifery profession within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. The appointee will benefit from a rich academic environment that fosters innovation in education, research, and professional development. They will work closely with the Head of School, Head of Discipline, Director of Midwifery Programmes, Professor in Midwifery, Professor of Maternal Health, the Trinity Centre for Maternity Care Research (TCMCR), and other members of the Midwifery team.

Please note that police vetting will be conducted for individuals under consideration for this post, in line with regulatory and safeguarding requirements.

Post status: 5 year fixed term, tenure track contract

Salary: This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Full Salary Scale (€42,500 - €101,541 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
