Are you ready to help shape the future of teaching and learning at Birkbeck, University of London? Do you have experience in virtual reality, immersive learning and teaching in educational or business contexts?

Birkbeck is looking for a talented and proactive Head of Immersive Learning Centre to manage our brand-new OFS funded Immersive Learning Centre (ILC). You will manage the new Centre including its facilities and services, and help shape its development and the shape of Immersive Learning (IL) into our future. With a salary of £63,402 to £70,801 per year, this is a full-time, permanent post with flexibility working offered. 

This is an exciting new role that involves building relationships with academic and senior management staff as well as external stakeholders. It will involve establishing networks from scratch, and designing and implementing processes and systems across the Centre, as well as managing equipment and budgets, and promoting the ILC.

In addition, you will explore partnerships, co-ordinate research and support Birkbeck staff and students to explore and develop their ideas for IL content, projects, and programmes - and so enabling IL to become embedded in teaching practice across the disciplines - enhancing teaching practice and learning at Birkbeck

In the first instance you will manage a senior technician and work closely with the Digital Education team and wider Information Services colleagues.

To succeed as Head of ILC, you may be working in an academic role in the VR/AR/IL space, have worked in learning technologies with a focus in this area, or come from industry and are looking for a change in career direction.

Birkbeck is a dynamic University situated in Euston, central London, catering to a diverse student body across a range of subjects. We have made large investments in technology to support flexible teaching and this role is part of that strategy. The role requires a substantial amount of on-campus time within the Centre, as well as flexibility around working hours to support evening teaching, open days and special events.

Salary and benefits: £63,402 rising to £70,801 per annum. Grade 9 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract: Full-time, permanent contract (35 hours a week).
