The Lecturer (Teaching) plays a key role in this transformation—working collaboratively with our Quality Assurance and Enhancement Team, supporting students in quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to curriculum innovation through stakeholder engagement and feedback.
Joining UCLMS means becoming part of a passionate team of educators and clinicians who are not only shaping medical education today but also preparing the next generation of doctors to lead in a dynamic and rapidly changing healthcare system.
About the role
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Lecturer (Teaching) to join UCL Medical School and play a key role in delivering and enhancing our 6-year MBBS programme.
Reporting to the MBBS Senior Leadership Team and working closely with the Quality Assurance Team, you will use your clinical and educational expertise to gather feedback from students and staff, liaise with stakeholders, and prepare reports for the University and regulatory bodies. A core part of the role involves supporting students - training course representatives, mentoring quality improvement projects, and guiding students through our Raising Concerns procedures.
You will also support the day-to-day running of the MBBS course, acting as a Personal Tutor, contributing to admissions and outreach activities such as Open Days and Widening Participation events, and assisting in student interviews.
In addition to teaching and assessment, you’ll be encouraged to engage in e-learning, educational scholarship, and curriculum development. You will also contribute to wider departmental activities, including research, public engagement, postgraduate teaching, and work with our education consultancy, CIMEC.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for education to influence the future of medical training while developing their own career in medical education.
About you
You hold a primary medical qualification and full GMC registration, bringing proven experience in teaching and assessment at undergraduate level. You have a strong understanding of pedagogy and are passionate about medical education, with a commitment to delivering high-quality learning in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
You work well both independently and within a team, with excellent communication skills and a collaborative, student-focused approach. You are confident using digital tools in education and are organised, adaptable, and committed to ongoing professional development. Experience in quality assurance, educational leadership, or holding a postgraduate qualification in medical education would be an advantage, as would a background in research or scholarly activity.
