The Department of Materials is recognised internationally for its excellence in research and teaching. With an annual intake of over 200 undergraduate and postgraduate masters students, we are the largest Materials department in the UK and are regularly ranked among the top few Materials departments in world. Our mission in education is to deliver research-inspired, socially relevant programmes to train people who will be valued for their scientific expertise, creativity, resourcefulness and teamwork. What you would be doing:
The holder of this post is primarily associated with the ‘Informing Interventions: Analytics in Action’ project, funded through Imperial’s Learning and Teaching Strategy. The post holder will facilitate the piloting of data-driven classroom interventions in collaboration with the other project team members from across the University. Other aspects of the role will include leading the development of data processing pipelines, co-creation of classroom activity to capitalise on learning analytics insights and the educational evaluation of the pilots conducted for publication. The data supporting this will be from a mixture of sources, including our uniquely granular and high-quality data on student self study, as well as data on use of video capture, and access to learning management systems. This post is part of a cross-department project and includes contributing to the delivery of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in one or more of the participating departments, which include Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Aeronautics
