Research Assistant (fixed term)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant within the Academic Unit, Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences. The post holder will assist and support the RELMED (Reinforcement Learning Mechanisms of Pharmacological Treatments in Depression) project research team in carrying out academic research, with a specific focus on EEG. RELMED is a multi-site Wellcome Trust funded research project which aims to understand which computational (reinforcement learning) mechanisms are engaged by different antidepressant treatments and through this improve targeting of future treatments for clinical depression.

The successful applicant will work with Dr Nixon, the Principal Investigator in Nottingham and the broader, national RELMED study team (led by UCL), with a specific role in EEG data acquisition and pre-processing at the lab in the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Nottingham. The EEG work will be additionally supported by senior colleagues at the IMH with relevant expertise attached to the broader RELMED team.

The RELMED study is currently in the setup phase. It consists of two randomized clinical trials to be run in sequence, with each involving repeat behavioural neurocognitive and EEG testing.

You will join an established team, led by Dr Nixon, whose main areas of research interest include mood disorders.

You must have experience in conducting EEG experiment, experience in mental health or clinical neuroscience research, a BSc or higher degree, willingness to work in a inter-disciplinary team and be proficient with software used in research.

This job is available on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2029.

Your working hours will be part-time as 18.13 hours per week, we encourage you to apply. Please specify your preferred hours in your application. We may also consider job share arrangements.
