JOB DECRIPTION
At Bath Spa University, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. We’re committed to creating inclusive, high-quality learning experiences that help every student succeed.
We’re looking for a talented Senior Instructional Designer to lead the development of high-quality, inclusive teaching materials that will directly shape the learning of our students. This is a hands-on design and production role. You won’t just advise on learning design — you’ll create it.
If you’re passionate about designing accessible, engaging learning experiences, and want to see your work directly shaping student success, we’d love to hear from you.
(This is a 1 Year Fixed Term Contract)
About the Role
Working closely with academic experts, you’ll design, write and produce complete teaching resource packs: lesson plans, annotated slides, seminar activities, and facilitator guidance. These materials will enable teaching teams to deliver an excellent, consistent learning experience across a diverse and dispersed student body, for courses that are taught in multiple locations across the country.
Your expertise in inclusive pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) will help ensure that every resource supports academic staff to deliver highly inclusive and accessible learning experiences that maximise support for all students to achieve.
This is a role for someone who takes real pride in producing clear and effective teaching resources and who wants to see their work make a tangible difference.
We offer a supportive, flexible, and values-led environment where your work will have real, visible impact. You’ll join a collaborative community of educators, designers and innovators, committed to delivering excellent and inclusive learning experiences for all.
About You
You’ll have proven experience in designing and producing inclusive teaching resources for higher education learners, and you’ll be confident working independently to take materials from idea to final product.
A background in instructional design or curriculum development is essential. An experience or qualifications in Business, Management or Health/Social Care Management would be a particular advantage, as many of the resources you create will support students on these programmes.
You’ll bring excellent digital authoring skills, a strong understanding of inclusive pedagogies, and great attention to detail. You’ll also be comfortable managing multiple projects, collaborating with academic colleagues, and staying organised across large-scale resource production. Experience of using AI tools to support content production or optimise design processes would be a welcome bonus.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
