The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is an internationally leading provider of undergraduate training and education within the fields of rehabilitation technologies, medical devices, and cell/tissue engineering. It is also the host department of the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO). The Department provides undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes to biomedical engineers, prosthetists and orthotists, and related healthcare professionals. BME is one of eight academic departments in the Faculty of Engineering which is one of the largest and most successful engineering faculties in the UK and the largest in Scotland. The NCPO is recognised nationally and internationally as a leading centre for training and research in prosthetics and orthotics, and hosts the only UK Prosthetics and Orthotics programme with accreditation from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics.

In particular, the appointment is to support teaching, distance learning activity, development of online resources to specifically support the suite of Prosthetic and Orthotic Masters programmes and development of online CPD.
