Associate Head of Campus - Education

De Montfort University Dubai is seeking a strategic and experienced academic leader to join as Associate Head of Campus – Education. This pivotal leadership role will oversee academic quality assurance and drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and the overall student experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality education that aligns with institutional standards and the evolving expectations of students and regulatory bodies.

As part of the senior academic team, you will work closely with faculty, student services, and campus leadership to develop academic policies, support innovation in curriculum and teaching, and champion initiatives that elevate student engagement, wellbeing, and success.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Quality Assurance

• Lead the implementation and monitoring of academic quality frameworks to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulators (e.g., KHDA, Ministry of Education, OfS)
• Oversee programme design, validation, and enhancement to ensure relevance and academic rigour
• Manage accreditation processes with professional and regulatory bodies
• Monitor academic KPIs such as student retention, progression, and graduate outcomes
• Conduct audits and reviews to maintain consistency and excellence across programmes

Student Experience

• Lead initiatives to enhance the student experience, including feedback mechanisms and wellbeing programmes
• Work collaboratively with student services, faculty, and representatives to address concerns and implement improvements
• Promote a culture of inclusivity, engagement, and student voice in decision-making

Teaching & Learning Excellence

• Support the adoption of innovative teaching practices that improve learning outcomes
• Oversee the integration of digital learning tools and inclusive pedagogies across curricula
• Facilitate academic staff development to promote excellence in teaching and assessment
• Ensure that teaching practices reflect global best practices and local student needs

Leadership & Collaboration

• Serve as a key member of the campus leadership team contributing to strategic planning and institutional development
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners including accreditors and professional bodies
• Represent DMU Dubai in university-wide committees and academic governance structures
• Contribute to the alignment of campus-level education strategies with the university’s global vision

Candidate Requirements:

Qualifications:

• A postgraduate degree in a relevant field (Essential); a PhD is preferred
• Fellowship or Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Desirable)
• All academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) or be eligible for attestation upon offer of employment
• Candidates must also ensure their qualifications are eligible for UAE Ministry of
  Education equivalency, or be willing to begin this process upon appointment

Experience:

• Significant experience in academic leadership, particularly in curriculum development, quality assurance, and teaching and learning enhancement (Essential)
• Experience working within UK HE frameworks and with regulatory bodies (e.g., KHDA, OfS, MoE)
• Strong track record of handling student feedback, academic complaints, and programme review cycles
• Proven ability to lead and chair academic committees and contribute to institutional strategy
• Experience working with diverse student populations in international or transnational education settings

Skills & Competencies:

• Ideally a minimum of 8–10 years of experience in higher education, including ideally at least 3–5 years in academic leadership roles such as programme management, curriculum enhancement, or academic quality assurance (Essential)
• Experience working within UK HE frameworks and with regulatory bodies (e.g., KHDA, OfS, MoE)
• Strong track record of handling student feedback, academic complaints, and programme review cycles
• Proven ability to lead and chair academic committees and contribute to institutional strategy
• Experience working with diverse student populations in international or transnational education settings
