Job Role

As a Postdoctoral Researcher within a KFUPM Research Center, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct impactful research, both basic and applied, within ongoing projects and potentially propose novel research directions aligned with the center's strategic objectives.
  • Develop advanced products, technologies, and innovative methodologies, translating research findings into tangible solutions with potential for commercialization and societal benefit.
  • Disseminate your findings through high-quality publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
  • Contribute to securing future research funding by actively participating in the development of research proposals and grant applications.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams of researchers, graduate students, and industrial partners, fostering a rich and interdisciplinary research experience.
  • Mentor and guide students, contributing to the development of the next generation of researchers.
  • Engage in teaching activities such as courses and short courses, subject to center and departmental needs.
  • Contribute to the center's activities, including seminars, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Assist in the development of research facility infrastructure and strategic partnerships.

Essential Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree obtained within the last 2-3 years, and possessing a strong track record of research excellence.

Candidates nearing completion of their Ph.D. degree (up to one year into the future) are also encouraged to apply.

PhD awarding university must be ranked in the QS Top 500 (2025 edition)

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge and a strong record of published research in one or more of the areas relevant to a Research Center’s focus.
  • Excellent understanding of relevant principles and methodologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive and self-starting approach to research.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and computational skills, where applicable.

Salary and other employment conditions

  • USD $ 5,000 (tax-free) Monthly for a 2-3 year contract.
  • Housing allowance equivalent to 3 months' salary
  • 30 days paid annual vacation
  • Annual repatriation tickets for Post Doc, spouse, and up to 2 children
  • Access to campus medical services and facilities
  • Additional benefits such as the use of community facilities and private beach
