The Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Reading, is seeking to appoint a teaching-intensive Lecturer in International Relations for a period of 1 year, starting 1 Sep 2025.
The post-holder will deliver inspiring teaching across the broad field of International Relations, with a particular focus on international security (broadly construed). They must be capable of convening a graduate-level module on War in Theory and Practice. They must also be capable of contributing to undergraduate-level core modules in International Relations and international security. An ability to contribute to research methods training would be an advantage. In addition to teaching, the post-holder will also contribute to student support and supervision, student recruitment, and appropriate administrative duties within the department.
The department is a friendly and supportive place which performed very strongly in the last two REF assessments. This is a full-time but fixed-term (12-month) vacancy arising from the short-notice departure of a permanent member of staff.
Please apply via the online portal, making sure to include a CV and a ‘supporting statement’ that addresses the job description and person specification (this need not go through each criterion separately so long as they are, as a whole, fully addressed). The deadline for applications is Wed 25 June.
