This new role will assist the Finance Manager in providing excellent financial management systems and support to the Directorate. This is a great opportunity to progress your career and gain varied professional experience. The University of Oxford Science Park at Begbroke is a cross-departmental research facility with office/laboratory space for both research groups and high-tech science-based businesses and spinouts which is entering a new phase of ambitious development and growth, with the vision of becoming an innovation district. This role is pivotal in supporting the Directorate as the Science Park develops and expands.
You will play a significant role in key financial processes, including budgeting; forecasting and monitoring; management accounting and reporting; financial planning and analysis; financial management of project and research awards and other high-level financial administration tasks. In addition, you will work with the finance assistants to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of day-to-day transactional finance services.
This is a varied role which requires flexibility and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines and financial regulations. You will bring significant financial experience to the role and have strong numerical and analytical abilities together with a sound understanding of accounting concepts. You need exceptional attention to detail and proficiency with financial systems together with a customer-focussed approach to delivering results. Your IT skills (particularly Excel) and financial skills will be very strong and will include experience of preparing management accounts with minimal supervision.
You will demonstrate a proven ability to think about financial issues strategically and to contribute to decision making together with the ability to understand the information needs of others and communicate complex information in an understandable way to a diverse range of audiences.
