ABOUT THE POST:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Student Conduct Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Student Casework, this is an excellent opportunity to play a significant role in our Student Conduct Team, within the Student Casework Office, as one of two Student Conduct Officers. This role is pivotal in ensuring a consistent and fair approach to handling student misconduct investigations and related safeguarding issues. You will provide expert advice regulatory advice where procedures might intersect with university policies related to Criminal Convictions, Fitness to Practise, Fitness to Study, and Sexual Violence Misconduct.
You will apply expert knowledge of university policy and the regulatory framework to advise colleagues and students, to ensure compliance with relevant Regulations and procedures. You will be expected to pro-actively review and contribute to reviews of regulations, policy and procedures in line with sector updates or changing needs of internal and external stakeholders.
Interviews due to be held in week commencing 7 July 2025.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in investigatory and case management roles, particularly within the context of higher education sector, or similar. You will have experience of sensitively managing casework, including formal and informal resolutions, and of operating within a regulatory environment and interpreting and complying with complex procedures and regulations.
You will be experienced in supporting and contributing to committees and panels, drafting and presenting detailed reports and other communications for internal and external stakeholders. You will be able to manage a varied and complex workload, progressing tasks and projects simultaneously, working efficiently and accurately to tight deadlines, and able to communicate with students and staff at all levels with tact and discretion, maintaining a high level of confidentiality at all times. You will provide information and monitor risk in your area, updating the Risk Register where responsible.
You should have a strong understanding of safeguarding, mental health issues, and the application of quasi-legal terminology. Experience in conducting sensitive investigations and managing complex caseloads is essential.
