Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate to the above role to investigate and perform research to disseminate findings on a ERC project “Unravelling the atypical mitosis and meiosis in Plasmodium” under the supervision of Professor Rita Tewari.

The research will involve unravelling regulatory mechanism of mitosis and meiosis in parasite proliferative stages within mosquito vector. This is to dissect the protein network and how key novel signalling proteins are involved parasite proliferation stages. The work will involves gene targeting both conditional knockdown and CRISPR-CAS9 gene editing using rodent malaria parasites, cutting edge cell biology, phosphorylation assay and phosphor-proteomics.

Candidates must hold a PhD, (awarded or pending) or equivalent in a relevant subject area cell division – molecular parasitology, yeast genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, genetics etc. The experience in cutting edge cell biology, proteomics and phosphor-proteomics is highly desirable.

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours), fixed term contract until 30thSeptember 2027.
