We are looking for an efficient and motivated colleague to work with us as a Payroll Team Leader. The role will involve overseeing the day-to-day administration of the University’s payroll system, procedures and delivery of service, ensuring the statutory, legal, and contractual requirements of the institution are met and that payments are processed accurately and within the agreed timescales on a monthly basis.
You will act as a point of escalation for internal queries from the Payroll Team, as well as any queries received from the wider University population. Additionally, the role will require administration of multiple occupational pension schemes and assisting with the delivery of various month-end returns and reconciliations. You will work closely with the Payroll Manager, deputising as appropriate, and collaborating on efficiency opportunities and process improvements.
You will have excellent communication skills, demonstrable the ability to work effectively with multiple teams and first-class analytical and problem-solving skills. Appropriate and relevant experience of being a team leader in a complex organisation is required, and you will have an aptitude and willingness to contribute.
In return we will provide a generous annual leave allowance of 25 days, plus 6 closure days (to be taken over Christmas and Easter) and Bank Holidays. The University offers membership of the Local Government (occupational) Pension Scheme, alongside a variety of other benefits such as car leasing, additional annual leave purchase, a cycle-to-work scheme, on-site pre-school centre and sports centre.
