About the division/school:
The Mastercard Foundation Climate Resilience and Sustainability Collaborative Program responds to the climate crisis in Africa by advancing relevant scholarship, curricula development, research, innovation and entrepreneurship in partnership with African collaborators. Africa is the continent that is most affected by climate change and has the highest youth unemployment rate: the program serves the next generation of African leaders that will respond to the climate crisis by developing the continent's green economy and by creating jobs.
About the role:
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge was established in 2022 as a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and the Mastercard Foundation. Over 500 Masters Scholars from the African continent will be enrolled in the programme between 2022 and 2030 to pursue degrees across the full range of academic disciplines at Cambridge.
The Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator will lead work in promoting the programme to targeted underrepresented communities, universities and countries. They will ensure that the programme meets the priority group targets set by the Mastercard Foundation, which are 70% female participants, 20% internally displaced persons or refugees and 10% living with a disability.
They will coordinate the work of a network of 5-10 alumni ambassadors across Africa to identify universities for targeted recruitment activities to maximise impact.
The role holder will split their time between Cambridge and Africa, requiring frequent travel and flexibility in their working schedule.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance. It is to pilot this new approach to recruitment and outreach.
