We are delighted to be one of only 12 UK research-focused higher-education institutions to be awarded a £4.35 million share of the recently announced Global Talent Fund! As a result of this we have an extremely exciting and very unique opportunity for a Talent professional to come and join us to lead and deliver our international academic recruitment ambitions, coordinating all international recruitment activity across the university, ensuring a consistent, strategic approach that supports the delivery of the Global Talent Fund objectives.

As Talent Advisor, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a structured, data-informed recruitment strategy that targets global academic and research talent to ensure our delivery of the Global Talent Fund objectives. Your focus will be on proactively identifying, engaging, and securing high-potential individually, particularly mid-career researchers and professors who can build and lead high-performing research teams in alignment with our institutional priorities.

About the Role

Working closely with the Head of Talent Acquisition, Talent Acquisition Specialist and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise), you will shape and implement a recruitment strategy that maximises impact across four key industrial strategy areas. We aim to recruit 10 -15 academic posts over two years, with approximately half in the first year and at least one within the first few months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of an international recruitment framework, mapping academic hiring cycles and peak recruitment periods across global regions.
  • Design and deliver a calendar of strategic recruitment activities, including conference attendance, job board campaigns, and targeted outreach.
  • Coordinate all international recruitment efforts, ensuring alignment with the Global Talent Fund's objectives and institutional priorities.
  • Partner with Faculties and Schools to identify and attract mid-career researchers and professors with the potential to build high-performing research teams.
  • Build and maintain global talent pipelines, using data and market insights to anticipate candidate motivations and present compelling opportunities.

About You

You're proactive, and a natural innovator with a global outlook and a passion for building high-impact recruitment strategies. You bring essential experience in international academic or research recruitment, and understand the nuances of global talent markets. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity, asking thought-provoking questions, and building strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Proven experience in international recruitment, ideally within academia or research-intensive environments.
  • A track record of proactive hiring and delivering structured recruitment campaigns across multiple regions.
  • Strong understanding of academic hiring cycles and global talent trends.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong project management capabilities.
  • Experience using data and market intelligence to inform recruitment strategy and decision-making.
