This new full-time post is available from 1 September 2025 until 31 August 2026 on a fixed term basis to cover for a maternity leave. This could be secondment opportunity for internal staff.

The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic educator to join our academic community as an Associate Lecturer or Lecturer in Genomic Medicine/Health Data Science (Education and Scholarship). In this role, you will play a vital part in enhancing the student learning experience through innovative and inclusive teaching practices across a variety of formats. You will contribute primarily to our Genomic Medicine or Health Data Science MSc Programmes, as well as support genomics and or health data science education within the BSc Biomedical Sciences and BMBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) programmes. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will help deliver high-quality, student-centred education that meets our rigorous academic standards. As a member of our teaching team, you will engage with students in diverse learning environments, ensuring that your teaching content, delivery methods, and materials are aligned with the intended learning outcomes for each session. Your contribution will be essential in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals and researchers in this rapidly evolving field. 

About you

For an Associate Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion), or equivalent qualification/experience, of the core knowledge relating to  genomics and/or health data science in order to teach and support learning on genetics / genomics/ health data science modules.
  • Staff at this level are expected to achieve Associate Fellow of the HEA within two years of appointment (if not already achieved) and to attend formal CPD relating to this.

For a Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion), or equivalent qualification/experience, of the core knowledge relating to genomics and/or health data science in order to teach and support learning on the MSc in Genomic Medicine or Health Data Sciences modules.
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status.
