Departmental Lecturer in History of Art

Oxford University Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE) is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in History of Art.

About the role

The History of Art programme is introducing a new Certificate Year 1 in Michaelmas 2025, which will run concurrently with the old provision (Certificate Year 2 and the Diploma in History of Art). Dr Sean Willcock, Departmental Lecturer in History of Art and Course Director of the Certificate and Diploma in History of Art, will be directing the new programme and we seek cover for the old programme.

The Certificate and Diploma teaching sessions take place at Ewert House, Summertown. The role holder is expected to be on hand before the teaching sessions start to greet the tutor and address any student matters that arise. The role holder is not expected to stay once the teaching is underway.

The role includes the general management of the Certificate (Year 2) and Diploma in History of Art: convening course handbooks; organising the teaching schedule; running the annual course committee meetings and writing associated reports; internally moderating each assignment; allocating marking, teaching, and supervision to the relevant tutor pool wherever necessary; providing feedback on research project proposals; assisting with interviews for new and in flight students; arranging and posting online reading lists with digitised texts (ORLO) to Canvas; running inductions and termly study skills sessions; organising and co-marking the Diploma presentations; and general quality control of the programmes and support of students.

This is a part time, fixed term contract until August 2026.
