About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Emmanouil Konstantinidis (Associate Professor) E.Konstantinidis@warwick.ac.uk
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
The research fellow will work closely with Dr. Emmanouil Konstantinidis (Department of Psychology) and Professor Daniel Read (Warwick Business School), supported by an ORA: Social Sciences grant (funded by the ESRC) entitled “The Uncertain Future and the Affective Imagination.” The fellow will join an international research team that includes Sam Johnson (University of Waterloo), Chris Dawson (University of Bath), and Mohammed Abdellaoui (HEC Paris). The primary aim of the grant is to empirically test, validate, and extend a unified theory of decision-making under both risk and delay - Affective Imagination Theory (AIT).
The main research objective of the grant is to combine formal and computational models with rigorous empirical designs to investigate the psychological, cognitive, and emotional influences in the study of risky intertemporal choice. The project will employ a wide array of methods, including lab experiments, process-tracing methods, and experience sampling techniques, to understand emotional and cognitive processes and link them to real-world decision-making. Additionally, the project aims to develop strategies to help people make more efficient decisions in areas such as finance, health, and business.
The research fellow will be part of the Behavioural Science Group in the Department of Psychology at the University of Warwick. The group comprises a large number of researchers interested in both the basic and applied facets of decision-making. Along with the Warwick Business School, it hosts one of the largest communities of behavioural scientists in Europe. The Decision Research at Warwick (DR@W) group is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to understanding decision-making processes and their applications across a range of domains.
