About the role:
Consistently rated amongst the world's best universities, Imperial College London is committed to developing the next generation of researchers, scientists and academics through collaboration across scientific fields. Located in the heart of London, it is a multidisciplinary space for education, research, translation and commercialisation, harnessing science and innovation to address global challenges.
The Advancement Division is seeking a collaborative Ethical Screening and Due Diligence Officer with sound judgment, political acuity and strong interpersonal skills to join their ambitious team. Philanthropic income can carry risk as a source of income, and the post holder will play a critical role in helping to ensure that any risks are well managed within the University and that appropriate consideration is given to the circumstances of any gift when it is accepted.
What you would be doing:
Using externally available sources of information, as well as information from relationship managers (fundraisers/academics), the post holder will undertake comprehensive ethical and reputational risk screening and due diligence on individuals, companies, foundations and other organisations wishing to make philanthropic gifts to the University. They will consider the full context of the gift, not just the source of funds, but also the purpose of the gift and its associated terms, to analyse and prepare a summary of the situation for review by senior leadership.
This career opportunity promises to be varied and will utilise your experience gained in roles such as Due Diligence Officer, Fundraising Researcher, Prospect Researcher or similar. This career opportunity will suit an individual with drive, ambition and a keen interest in philanthropy within higher education.
