About the role
As a research fellow, you will be working within an MRC-funded transdisciplinary hub to decarbonise commissioning and delivery of healthcare – Reducing Pharmaceutical Waste (Work Package 2). This role will sit within the department of Global Health and Infection at BSMS working within the Sustainability team (Research areas - BSMS).
The research will focus on an approach to decarbonisation which identifies and targets policy changes with high impact, with a particular focus on "reduce" (reducing appointments, investigations, pharmaceutical and healthcare products) and "reuse" (of products and pharmaceuticals that would otherwise be disposed of). This will focus hub efforts on changes with the largest potential gains for decarbonisation; and in many instances with potential co-benefits for improving health, service quality and long-term efficiency.
You will be joining a the Work Package 2 Team (Professor Michael Okorie; Professor Claire Anderson; Dr Naoko Arakawa; Jenni Wilburn) and will be supported throughout the research project.
About you
You will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in a field relevant to sustainable medicines use or have an appropriate level of experience in research in this subject area. You should also have the skills to manage your own workload and work independently, while feeding into and collaborating with the team.
