Are you a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist with a strong background in human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) differentiation?
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Dr Martina Hallegger’s group at the Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist.
You will be responsible for the culture/characterisation of iPSC-derived neuronal models, and for generating novel cell lines with mutations in TARDBP (gene coding for TDP-43) using CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing. You will utilise bulk, long-read and iCLIP RNA-sequencing approaches to look at gene expression and regulation changes to identify proteins/pathways linked to the change in TDP-43 assembly behaviour. Other duties will include undertaking cellular and biochemical assays using advanced techniques in cell and molecular biology and cell imaging, and data analysis and interpretation of datasets (with support from local specialist bioinformatics and imaging teams). You must have strong teamwork, project management and interpersonal skills.
It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in Neuroscience, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related area, and have research experience in human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neuronal models. You will have experience with CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and genome engineering and the validation of generated cell lines, and experience in cell culture, molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry and setting up cellular assays. It is essential you have experience in transcriptomics and basic bioinformatic analysis, and a working knowledge of relevant analysis and statistical programs (eg. Fiji, CellProfiler, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, GraphPad Prism, RStudio).
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2028 and is funded by the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.
Only applications received before 12 midday on 24 June 2025 will be considered. Please quote 180141 on all correspondence.
