The University of Exeter Medical School is excited to invite applications for the Bateman Family Professorial Fellowship in Peripheral Neuropathy. This 5-year fellowship and the generous start-up grant will enable the successful candidate to focus on developing new research programmes in rehabilitation and peripheral neuropathy. We are seeking to recruit a talented researcher who is either a leader or looking to establish themselves as leader in the field.
The role is open to ambitious academics at Associate or full Professor level, and tailored, personalised support will be provided. We are seeking a candidate who wants to engage fully with academic life at the University of Exeter.
This 5-year fellowship is available from September 2025, and offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time working on campus and some time working from home. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working full or part-time hours. Clinical and non-clinical applications are welcome.
At the conclusion of the fellowship, it is intended that the successful candidate will, subject to satisfactory performance, make a transition to a permanent position (Associate or Full Professor) within the University of Exeter subject to the usual Terms & Conditions of the relevant grade.
The Bateman Family Professorial Fellowship is generously supported by the Bateman Family Trust, via the Master Trust.
About you
We are seeking highly motivated and ambitious candidate with a successful track record of grant acquisition and high-quality publications commensurate with an international reputation (for Full Professor), or who demonstrate strong potential and a trajectory to independent research.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can deliver innovative health research in Clinical Trials and/or Translational Medical Research. Candidates may have a range of expertise in Peripheral Neuropathy, including but not limited to plexus and peripheral nerve injury, chemotherapy induced neuropathy, spinal conditions leading to neuropathy, diabetes, and diseases such as Charcot Marie Tooth.
