Applications are invited for an appointment as a full time (1 FTE) Lecturer in Physics, Specific Purpose Contract Type A, at University of Galway. This is predominantly a teaching contract (60%) with research and administration sharing the remainder.
The School of Natural Sciences offers a BSc programme in Physics (including options in Applied Physics, Climate Physics, Astrophysics, Theoretical and Biomedical Physics) and MSc programmes (in Key Enabling Technologies, Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety, Medical Physics, and Astronomical Instrumentation). The School is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates to teach Physics at university level, working with students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level including adult learners. A leadership role in academic programme delivery, curriculum and /or pedagogical development is desirable.

Main duties
The post holder will primarily deliver high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level in the BSc Physics degree programme. The post holder will be expected to contribute to lectures, tutorials, laboratory and project-based education across the programme. The person will also contribute to academic administration within the School. The post holder must be able to demonstrate experience in the delivery of core Physics curriculum. He/she should have knowledge and experience of teaching in a third level sector. It is desirable that candidates should have experience designing and developing online/blended course materials using modern teaching technologies. The candidate will be able to pursue their own research in an area that aligns with the main themes in the School of Natural Sciences.
