The Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) is one of Europe’s leading centres for health economics and is located within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences & Nutrition at the University of Aberdeen.
We are a leading health economics research centre, with a reputation for delivering applied and methodological work of the highest quality across a broad range of policy-relevant fields including technology assessment, workforce, person-centred care and public health.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to an exciting programme of research involving cost-effectiveness modelling and preference elicitation work in the areas of diabetic medicine and dental care. As part of these projects, the postholder will be responsible for developing and strengthening HERU’s reputation for methodologically robust and policy relevant health economics research, including but not limited to decision analysis modelling, cost-effectiveness data analysis, and preference elicitation. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to disseminate their work widely, including at national and international conferences and to policy makers.
The post is for a period of 30 months in the first instance, funded by the Chief Scientists Office (CSO) of the Scottish Government and UK National Institute for Health and care Research (NIHR) project grants, with a view to continuation subject to funding. This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop expertise in a variety of health economic methods, to inform decision making in dentistry and diabetes services in Scotland, the UK and beyond. The successful candidate will be provided with excellent training opportunities appropriate to their role and will be supported and encouraged to develop and lead research proposals to prestigious grant funding bodies. You will work within a supportive, collegiate team of health economists and health services researchers.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £38,249 to £45,413 per annum, pro rata negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
