The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr Fidan Turk’s. This Medical Research Foundation funded post is available from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2027. The successful applicant will investigate the association between food insecurity and eating disorders using secondary data analysis of UK-based cohort data.
This position is part of a Medical Research Foundation-funded project. The project is titled “Investigating Food Insecurity and Eating Disorder Symptoms in the UK: Analysis of Epidemiological Cohort Datasets.” The research involves secondary analysis of major UK cohort data, including ALSPAC and Understanding Society. The aim is to examine the association between food insecurity and eating disorder symptoms. The project is led by Dr. Fidan Turk. You will collaborate closely with Professor Francesca Solmi at University College London and Dr. Vivienne Hazzard at Michigan State University. Methodologies will include longitudinal data analysis and other advanced statistical approaches. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-impact mental health research.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field such as psychology, epidemiology, public health, or behavioural science. Applicants must have knowledge of 1) existing research on eating disorders, 2) quantitative analysis skills, 3) evidence of prior related research activity, including development of regulatory body/ethical applications, engagement with PPIE members, and published research.
