About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Research Degrees Administrator who will work closely with the Research Degrees Team to provide administrative support to 500 research degree students and applicants in the Departments of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction; Brain Sciences; Immunology and Inflammation, and Infectious Disease. This is a busy and varied post requiring a competent administrator able to multi-task and work to deadlines. The post-holder must be proactive in their approach to duties and able to work with minimal supervision. The post involves a high level of interaction with students and staff at all levels, so requires the post holder to have a professional approach with a friendly and welcoming manner.

What you would be doing

You will be required to provide administration for the research degree student journey, from application to registration, milestone management, exam entry and thesis submission. You will have particular responsibility for processing research degree applications including  references, dealing with queries regarding qualifications, English language, fee status and funding, and also overseeing the administration of the President’s PhD Scholarship, the joint China Scholarship Scheme and other Central College funding schemes including receiving applications, checking eligibility, organising selection panels, liaising with Central College and informing applicants of the outcome and then ensuring the smooth ongoing administration and processing of the funding.

You will handle all day-to-day enquiries from staff and students, and be familiar with College policies and procedures, and the rules that apply to research degrees. You will assist with the maintenance of Departmental research degrees webpages as well as any projects delegated by the Research Degrees Manager.

  • You will be well organised, methodical and accurate paying close attention to detail; able to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines; and have excellent skills in IT, communication and time management.
