About the role:
Are you a distinguished academic with expertise in Critical Care? Imperial College London's Department of Surgery and Cancer is actively seeking exceptional individuals for the position of Chair in Critical Care to expand its research in this area. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of critical care research and contribute to the advancement of patient care.
What you would be doing:
You will have a research interest in any area of basic, translational or clinical research to improve care of critically ill patients. You will develop and grow the existing clinical research training posts in intensive care medicine collaborating with multiple specialities and funders. Furthermore, you will be expected to develop a nationally leading programme of research that will have excellent synergy with the current critical care clinical and laboratory research portfolio within the Division of Anaesthetics, Pain Medicine and Intensive Care (APMIC).
What we are looking for:
You must have a track record of high-quality publications and a proven ability to work across disciplines and specialities, harnessing the translational research focus of the Division and to collaborate with other investigators in the Department and College. You will work with the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and the Clinical Academic Training Office (CATO) to develop themes for critical care in its various aspects described above for PhD students, NIHR ACFs and CLs as well as attracting funding for clinical research fellows and doctoral research fellows. You will be expected to provide research opportunities and deliver lecturers and seminars for clinical teaching; contribute to the Anaesthetics, Pain Medicine and Intensive Care stream of the MRes in Biomedical Research programme and other MRes programmes as appropriate and the iBSc (Anaesthesia & Critical Care). You will also be supervisor /co-supervisor of PhD students.

The post is available on a full-time, open-ended basis within the Division of Anaesthetics, Pain Medicine and Intensive Care (APMIC) with an Honorary consultant contract with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT). You will be based at Hammersmith Hospital (main campus) and St. Mary’s or Charing Cross dependent of clinical subspecialisation.
