About the role

The Faculty of Theology and Religion is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Hebrew Bible/ Old Testament, in association with Worcester College.

The lectureship is intended to develop the career of a highly promising scholar by providing opportunities for research, teaching and collaborative work in Hebrew Bible / Old Testament and associated fields. The Lecturer will be expected to play an active role in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses.

About you

You will hold a postgraduate qualification (preferably a DPhil or PhD) in a relevant area of Hebrew Bible / Old Testament, have a research record appropriate to the stage of your career and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field. You will also be able to teach a range of papers from the Prelims and Final Honours School course for students at Worcester. Essential teaching requirements include ‘The Poetic World of the Hebrew Bible’ and ‘Gender and Power in Biblical Texts.’ The successful candidate should also be able to teach additional papers in the area of Hebrew narrative.

In addition, you will have the ability and commitment to participate effectively and collegially in the wider academic activities of both the College and Faculty, and in the creation of a healthy community and culture of research and teaching across the different parts of the University of Oxford.
