Overview of the Vice-Chancellor Position

The British International University (BIU) in Erbil, Iraq, is initiating an international search to appoint its Vice-Chancellor. This role presents an important opportunity to guide BIU into its next phase of development, with a focus on advancing academic quality and community engagement. The Vice-Chancellor will play a key role in enhancing the University’s reputation, supporting research initiatives, and evolving academic offerings to meet contemporary needs. Emphasis will be placed on improving the student experience and fostering inclusive leadership. BIU is seeking an experienced leader with a strong background in higher education and institutional development. 

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the university's long-term vision, mission, and strategic goals.
• Ensure high standards of teaching, research, and academic programs across all faculties.
• Enhance an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes student engagement, success and staff growth.
• Ensure effective governance, compliance, and institutionalisation. 

Requirement:

• A successful candidate must have obtained a PhD degree from an internationally renowned university.
• A successful candidate must ideally have at least 7 years of experience in education.
• Prior experience in teaching and management within the Middle East would be considered an asset.
• Research project experience with renowned academic achievement will be a huge bonus.
