The Mental Health Advisor will work on campus and closely with colleagues across the University to deliver a professional service for applicants and students. They will co-ordinate the provision for students with emerging, acute and enduring mental health conditions, helping them to manage their mental health alongside their studies. This will include developing and facilitating appropriate support plans and liaising with internal and external agencies to ensure individuals gain effective support. They will manage a caseload of students and offer crisis interventions.
For some students they will provide ongoing mentoring support, helping them to develop strategies to cope with the demands of their studies. The Advisor will also provide advice and support on student mental health to staff throughout St Mary’s University and act as first point of contact for staff in urgent situations related to student mental health crisis and be able to provide expert advice and recommendations for senior management interventions.
An enthusiastic, dedicated, highly motivated and professionally qualified individual is required to meet the wellbeing needs of St Mary’s University students. This job is on site for the majority of the time and at peak times this is a demanding role which requires a calm, positive attitude. You will work proactively as part of the Student Services Wellbeing Team with a focus on providing a holistic approach to the wellbeing of our students and service, whilst ensuring excellent service delivery to enhance student engagement and contribute to the student experience.
