We will also consider requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular (weekly) on-campus working. The Usher Institute expects a minimum of 40% on campus working.
The Centre for Population Health Sciences at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh has an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellowship to undertake independent research studies and a PhD.
The Opportunity:
This post is fully funded for 3 years and provides an opportunity to obtain a PhD. The project will enable the candidate to develop unique skills in complex linked data handling, geospatial analysis and qualitative interviewing in the field of cancer prevention and will contribute to national work on stratified bowel cancer screening.
Through expertise within an associated Cancer Research UK programme grant and the Cancer in Primary Care Research Group within the Usher Institute the candidate will engage with a national and international network of cancer researchers – and nurtured to fulfil their academic potential, facilitating progression to a competitive post-doctoral fellowship. Ultimately, the intention is for the candidate become a leading clinical academic within Scotland focused on cancer prevention. This research will be published in high impact journals and presented at international conferences. The candidate will have opportunities to work with the UK National Screening Committee and Scotland’s Screening Oversight Group in implementing changes to improve bowel cancer screening within Scotland based on the findings from this work.
