The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) brings together Winchester School of Art, one of the UK’s leading Art and Design institutions, and the School of Humanities, spanning disciplines from literature, language and music, to history, film and philosophy, many of which are ranked in the top 10 in the UK.

We invite applications from suitably skilled and experienced candidates for the position of Faculty Specialist Officer (International), tenable from 1 September 2025 to 30 September 2026.

The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic and collegial team responsible for furthering the Faculty’s international strategy. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Initiating and progressing mutually valuable global partnerships, following due process from conception to signature
  • Applying specialist knowledge of educational, economic, and political landscapes in key global regions
  • Planning and delivering activities which promote FAH education programmes and contribute to the realisation of ambitious and diverse international student recruitment plans
  • Promoting, process, and evaluate the FAH Global Talent Scholarships scheme, and coordinate FAH participation in other key International Scholarship schemes
  • Working closely with the University’s International Office, identifying opportunities to collaborate and streamline activity
  • Acting as an ambassador for the University of Southampton both in the UK and overseas

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Sound understanding of, and experience of working in, UK Higher Education with an international student and staff body
  • Experience of establishing effective relationships with international partners
  • Knowledge of sector and market trends regarding international student recruitment
  • Proven record of contributing positively to international student recruitment plans
  • Advanced level proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese Languages is highly desirable; another global language in addition to English would be considered
