The Physical Science Data Infrastructure (PSDI) initiative is an EPSRC funded large scale infrastructure project. PSDI aims to enable researchers in physical sciences to handle data more easily by connecting and enhancing the different data infrastructures they use. Through PSDI researchers will be able to:   

  • Find and Access reference quality data from commercial and open sources  
  • Combine data from different sources  
  • Share data, software and models including experimental and simulation data  
  • Deploy close-to-data computation and containerisation of data and software  
  • Use AI to explore data  
  • Make the results of their research open and FAIR  

We are looking to hire a Senior Enterprise Fellow to join our team with a strong background in working with scientific data, scientific software development, public engagement and outreach activities within the physical sciences. The key aspects of the job will involve coordinating and conducting high level enterprise activities for PSDI, in addition to taking an organisational role in our public engagement and outreach activities and developing and delivering our educational activities.  

Applicants must have a PhD, equivalent professional qualifications or experience, the ability to demonstrate substantial and authoritative practical knowledge and experience in the physical sciences, and excellent communication skills. Applicants must have significant experience in working with scientific data and software, in addition to demonstrable experience in organising public engagement activities and a proven track record of developing and delivering educational activities within the physical sciences.  

You will make a valuable contribution to PSDI’s goals, making contributions from our KEE activities (knowledge exchange and enterprise) through to research and user engagement and have the potential to grow your own areas of expertise. There will be opportunities to develop skills to advance your career and build on skills outside of enterprise, research and scientific communication, such as project management and training.  

The position is offered as a full-time post with a permanent contract, contingent upon ongoing funding of PSDI (which is current guaranteed until 10th January 2026) The post is based at the University of Southampton in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
